Biography
Born in the Bronx, publicly educated through College, Stan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University (NY) where Stan developed his own Innovation Projects major which brought him to Boston in 1975, eventually earning a Master’s degree from Wheelock College. He has worked in Early Education and Community-based programs since 1975. He directed Head Start Programs in Lynn, Haverhill, and Lowell MA. During a stint at United Way of Mass Bay from 2004 to 2007, he worked on many of the leading issues in the field, including Workforce Development, Assessment using Research-based tools, Expulsion, School Readiness, and using data in outcome-based programing. Since 2007, he has consulted with programs, focusing on assessment practices and program development. Since 2009, he has been an Adjunct Professor at Middlesex Community College in MA where the supervision of Student Teachers is among his responsibilities. He describes himself as a “neighborhood guy whose parents made him go to college”. Stan and his wife, Karen, an Early Childhood Special Educator, married in 1980. His two sons live in Louisiana with their wives. Stan and Karen have three grandchildren. Stan began his own mindfulness practice in October 2015; a lifelong friend, Michael Fischman who has been a teacher with the Art of Living Foundation for over 25 years introduced him to some of the basics
