Biography
Margie Carter has worked as a kindergarten teacher, child care director, and adjunct faculty at Pacific Oaks College N.W. and Seattle Central Community College. She received her B.S. in Education from Northwestern University and her M.A. in Human Development and Leadership from Pacific Oaks College, and has served as a long time contributing writer for Exchange. As the co-author of numerous professional learning books with Deb Curtis, Margie’s speaking and consulting work as a teacher educator has her traveling throughout North America and New Zealand. Margie has a deep commitment to unpacking and changing the dynamics of race, power, and white privilege in the early childhood field and our wider world. With social justice as a lens, she is concerned about play as an equity issue, cultural and linguistic democracy, and uplifting the leadership, respect, and compensation of a diverse body of educators.
