In order to position yourself effectively in this role, says Maurice Sykes, you must be open to a wide range of possibilities in terms of improving outcomes for children and families. Sykes is the former Executive Director of the Early Childhood Leadership Institute at the University of the District of Columbia. He’s also the author of Doing the Right Thing for Children: Eight Qualities of Leadership.
Sykes believes there are 8 core leadership values that are essential for early childhood leaders:

8. Courage
