Biography
Lisa Poelle has more than twenty-five years of experience in the field of child development and parent education. Ms. Poelle has counseled nearly 1000 families and provided training and technical assistance to more than 100 child care centers, nannies and family day care homes. She has conducted extensive in-service training in how to teach conflict resolution to young children, has taught college courses on child development and child care center design, and established an innovative mentoring program for teachers.
Ms. Poelle collaborated with architects on the design of eight employer-sponsored, developmentally appropriate child care centers. In addition to writing “The Biting Solution”, she has written numerous parenting articles and is a co-author of the book, “Growing Teachers”. She has been a consultant for many large corporations and government organizations, including Time Warner, assisting them in setting up family supportive programs at the workplace. She has served as a Senior Learning Specialist for the Research Foundation of The City University of New York, on the “Birth To Eight Professional Development Project” in the South Bronx.
Lisa Poelle currently teaches CDA and professional development courses through the CUNY School of Professional Studies and Bank Street College in NYC. She also serves as a Devereux Early Childhood Assessment Mentor for the Center for Children’s Initiatives in NYC. As an independent contractor, she offers behavioral consultation, professional development seminars, keynote speaking, and NAEYC Accreditation and ECERS assistance to early childhood education programs. She has served on the governing board of the New York City Association for the Education of Young Children since 2010. Ms. Poelle holds a Master’s Degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California. She resides in New York City.
