Biography
Ann Pelo is a teacher educator, program consultant, and author whose primary work focuses on reflective pedagogical practice, social justice and ecological teaching and learning, and the art of mentoring. After receiving a Masters in Child Development and Family Studies from Purdue University, Ann taught three-, four-, and five-year-old children at Hilltop Children’s Center in Seattle for twelve years. That teaching evolved into the role of pedagogical leader; the thinking, learning, and questioning that she did in that context has informed her work since leaving Hilltop. Ann travels in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to think together with early childhood educators and leaders about teacher research, and the pedagogical practices and organizational structures that support inquiry. Her work is anchored by a commitment to the right of educators to be intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually engaged by their work.
